A late bloomer, Wayne started playing football seriously only when he was 13, after previously dabbled in taekwondo and volleyball, which he attributed to his choice to become a goalkeeper from Day One. He is also a one-club man, having come through the Geylang International Under-19 ranks as a 16-year-old, and learning the ropes from Zainol Gulam. Wayne made his Singapore Premier League debut in 2020, starting against Tanjong Pagar and keeping a clean sheet before being replaced at half-time as the Eagles went on to win 2-1.
