Eagles brace for a big week ahead at home
The Eagles head into the week with two matches that could well define their 2021 Singapore Premier League season.
An Eastern derby clash with Tampines Rover awaits at Our Tampines Hub (OTH) on Wednesday evening before they welcome Young Lions to their home ground again three days later.
Since winning both of their fixtures after the international break in July, Geylang International has suffered two consecutive defeats against Tanjong Pagar United and Hougang United in the last fortnight.
A return to home ground advantage could be timely as Head Coach Noor Ali readies his charges to turn the corner with six games remaining in the domestic league.
New signings Afiq Yunos and Abdil Qaiyyim are expected to bolster the Eagle’s defence alongside captain Yuki Ichikawa with midfield maestro Barry Maguire called upon to take command in the middle of the park again.
Amy Recha has continued to show his quality in front of goal alongside Brazilian foreign signing Matheus Moresche. Between them, they have scored a total of 17 goals this season and much will be expected of the duo as they take the Eagles forward.
Noor said: “Of course we are disappointed with our recent results, but we can only stay positive and move forward. We’ll try our best to get maximum points this week and hopefully stage our own revival in the league table.”
