Geylang International brings football closer to the community with First Kick Academy

The football community in Singapore is set to be brought closer after a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was reached between Geylang International Football Club (GIFC) and Asia Football Group (AFG)- a Singapore-based company which operates First Kick Academy, a football academy for children and The Ark Futsal, a futsal venue management business. 

Under the MOU, youth teams from GIFC will get the opportunity to train at The Ark venues at Changi Business Park and Orchid Country Club, with youth tournaments and football camps also being organised together with the club to engage the community.

As part of the AFG’s objective to give back to the community and work with non-profit partners to provide opportunities in sports for disadvantaged youths, First Kick Academy will also be given naming rights where Geylang International First Kick Academy (currently First Kick Excellence), consisting of youth (U8- U13) teams get to compete in local and overseas leagues.

Geylang International First Kick Academy training plans and philosophy will coincide closely with the club’s philosophy by working closely with the COE and first-team coaches and will be a platform for the club in scouting for its U15 youth players.
