Eagles aim to continue unbeaten run against Tanjong Pagar United

Geylang International is set to take on Tanjong Pagar United at Our Tampines Hub (OTH) again as they clash for the second time in 14 days.

The Eagles have not lost a match against the Jaguars since the start of the Singapore Premier League (SPL) season. They won their season opener 2-1 and claimed a double over their rivals again with a 3-1 win at the start of the month.

Head Coach Noor Ali is however under no illusions that it will be a stroll in the park for the Eagles again, having seen the Jaguars claimed one of the biggest upsets in the season so far with a 2-1 win over league leaders Albirex Niigata last week.

“Tanjong Pagar can be a very dangerous team, and I expect the match to be another tough battle. They will definitely want to get all three points from us, and we just have to stay focused, keep our defence tight and be deadly in front of goal,” said Noor.

He is aware of the attacking threat posed by Luiz Junior and Reo Nishiguchi but is confident his charges will be up to the task as they marshal the back-line tightly.

“Our defence is getting stronger, and I have every confidence in the boys doing a great job at the back. Moresche has also been on form this season. I’m hopeful of seeing him do well again, especially in front of the home fans,” said Noor.
