U-14 team through to Challenge Cup Finals!

For many kids, playing Jalan Besar Stadium is something only one can dream off. Often the venue for scintillating finals such as the League Cup final and Singapore Cup final, the U-14 boys can now experience what it’s like to be on the pitch themselves this Friday.

Hosting Tampines Rovers U-14 side for first ever Challenge Cup final, the young Eagles have the chance to relieve some of the pain after narrowly missing out on the league title to rivals Home United.

“It’s a massive achievement for the boys to be second in the League and also the Challenge Cup finals. I believe that the boys all know how important this match is to us and we will go all out to do the best we can.”

“Anything can happen in the finals and I believe Tampines will put up a very strong performance as well. Any team in the finals should be respected and of course, Tampines has a very good team as well.  Nevertheless, I am confident that we will play with hunger and win the match,” said Coach Sugunan

Khairul, the captain of the side, who just last week bagged the Best Player Award echoed his coach’s sentiments.

“Certainly it will be a good experience for all of us, playing in front of the crowds at Jalan Besar Stadium. To be honest, this is the first time I’ve played in the final and I can’t be more motivated. It will also be quite a challenge to overcome my fear of playing in front of such a large crowd. Nevertheless, I’ll try my best to play to the best of my ability and be as effective as possible for the team.”

“Although some might say we’re favorites for the tie, I think we shouldn’t be over-confident as Tampines are a very strong counter-attacking side. I’m confident we can be the first U-14 team to win the Challenge Cup!” Khairul said with much conviction.

Last but not least, we hope that you can lend our young Eagles your support by coming down to Jalan Besar Stadium on Friday!
