Three amazing goals gave Geylang United all three points in the bag in the encounter against table toppers Balestier Khalsa. The match played at Bedok Stadium also saw the two English players score their first goals for the team.
A good knock down by Mun Seung Man gave Rhema Obed a simple finish in the 11th minute, slamming the ball past Joey Sim. The second goal came on the 21st minute from a Syed Fadhil cross, which Jozef Kaplan, and the entire Balestier defense missed. The ball dropped to Michael King who was lurking on the left, who had all the time in the world to power the ball into the top corner of Joey Sim’s net.
A straight red for former Eagle Syed Thaha in the 42nd minute allowed a huge advantage for the Eagles.
Zul Elhan Fahmi, Rizawan Abdullah and Jozef Kaplan all had good shots on goal before the third goal came. Michael King played a cross from the left into the box to Ang Zhiwei who pulled the ball back for Jozef Kaplan to blast the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the goal on the 84th minute.
Balestier Khalsa had good chances as well, with Paul Cunningham rattling the crossbar late in the second half. Paul Cunningham did manage to pull a goal back on the 90th minute.
The Eagles will travel to Queenstown Stadium for their next game on 29 March.
