Geylang International FC

Sports Carnival @ St. Stephen’s

On 28 May 2011, the Eagles swapped their playing boots for whistles as they became match officials for a day in the five-a-side mini football tournament held at St. Stephen’s School. Contrary to popular belief, the event showed there was no shortage of talent in Singapore football. The boys impressed the first-team with their nifty football and intelligence.

Other than giving out goodie bags and interacting with the school children, the highlight came at the end of the event when coach Mike Wong and team captain Yazid Yasin presented medals and trophies to the winning teams.

“We would like to show our appreciation to Geylang United for helping out to officiate the tournament,” Mr. Yusoff Jakaria, a teacher of St. Stephen’s School said. “From this, we would like to see how we can get involved in the programmes of Geylang United. And I believe if we can get the boys to have a sense of belonging to the club, it would be good.”
