Ridhuan Muhammad: We were just too tired

It was a night of frustration for the Eagles as they were held to a goalless draw by the Courts Young Lions. Try as they did, the Courts Young Lions held their own. Speaking to EAGLES TV after the match was Captain Ridhuan Muhammad.
The winger felt that the back to back matches at the Jalan Besar Stadium had tested the limits of his squad in terms of fatigue.
He said: “Because of the match we played last Friday (against defending champions Tampines Rovers) and us playing again today on this pitch is difficult.”
He continued: “It’s not easy playing (twice) on this pitch in a very short period of time.”
The captain also felt that the squad had pushed to the best of their abilities.
“We really wanted it but our bodies were just too tired,” admitted Ridhuan.
The former Young Lions player also congratulated the opposition. He said: “I think they defended well. They are still young but they did well with a no nonsense attitude and kept their backline clean and simple.”
With the Young Lions threatening to score from counter attacks, Ridhuan was also tasked to track back to help the defence. But the Captain praised his side’s defence which has now kept two clean sheets in a row.
He said: “The defence and Siddiq have done well. They really showed discipline and character. I hope they will keep the good performance up for the upcoming matches.”
