Response to The New Paper’s article (26 February 2014)
By Eagles Admin on 4 March 2014
Dear fans and supporters,
Our Argentinian striker Leonel Felice finally received his Employment Pass from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in time for the match against Home United FC, after much anticipation and anxiety. Although we had submitted Leonel’s application at the same time as the applications for our four other foreign players, approvals were swiftly received for the four other foreign players whereas the processing of Leonel’s application was delayed by MOM. In the course of liaising with MOM to expedite the approval, we came to know that this delay was due to the fact that Leonel’s application had been randomly selected for detailed documents verification by MOM.
It is regrettable that a journalist from The New Paper, one Shamir Osman, had opted to use this delay to portray us in his 26th February 2014 article as a club “in chaos”, and to allege that “…trouble is already brewing at the Bedok Stadium…”.
So, fans and supporters – do you think that based on the circumstances explained above, it is fair for Shamir Osman to write about us as a club in chaos? Do you think it is ethically right for a journalist to use MOM’s delay in approving Leonel’s Employment Pass (through no fault of the club) to publish a factually incorrect statement that trouble is brewing at Bedok Stadium?
Do let us know your views below.
In the meantime, we thank you for your support of and belief in the Club.
