Match Preview: Tanjong Pagar United vs Geylang International
By Eagles Admin on 28 August 2013
Geylang International may have suffered an unfortunate last gasp defeat against Woodlands Wellington last week which may have put paid any hopes of finishing in the top six of the table with only three games more to play.
Even then, the players can take comfort in the fact that they were the better side last Friday. Veteran Noor Ali received a contentious red card which helped Woodlands Wellington surely and his presence and vision will be sorely missed tonight.
The Jaguars have had only two days’ rest after their shocking defeat to Courts Young Lions last Monday and will also be missing Ahmad Latiff and K Vikraman due to suspension. That may yet work in favour of the Eagles as they take to the pitch tonight.
Nonetheless, the likes of the vastly experienced Monsef Zerka, Ishmael Benahmed and the effervescent Hafiz Nor will prove to be immense threats on their day.
The Jaguars will surely remember the 2-1 defeat they suffered at Bedok Stadium and following their shocking defeat on Monday, the Eagles will have to be prepared to face a Jaguars backlash.
Captain Jozef Kaplan and Yasir Hanapi, both the scorers against the Jaguars then, will want to repeat that performance tonight as the Eagles look to climb out of this current turbulence in recent form.
A win for the Eagles tonight will see us soar to 8th place on the table with only one point behind 7th place Harimau Muda B and that is a thought to relish.
Even though the Eagles have not won for the past 6 competitive matches, the scorelines are proof that facing the Eagles is no walk in the park and that will be the case again tonight for the Jaguars.
Bring them on!
