Match Preview: Home United FC vs Geylang International FC
By Eagles Admin on 3 July 2013
A stiff challenge awaits at Bishan Stadium tonight as Geylang International FC lock claws with 4th placed Home United in our next S-League fixture. Rising up to 9th in the league after the Eagles downed Harimau Muda B 2-0 last Wednesday, our ascent up the table will be in for some turbulence as the Protectors have not lost to the Eagles in the league since April 2009.
Already this season, Home Utd FC have already managed to floor the Eagles at Bedok Stadium in the first round of the league, registering a 3-1 victory.
They will be featuring two new players, Choi Jae Won and Kwon Dak Yung, both from Korea, after Coach Lee Lim Saeng relinquished the services of Masato Fukui and goalkeeper Jang Hong Won.
Ex- South Korean international and Samsung Suwon player, Lee Kwan Woo, have been in sizzling form and he has scored 7 league goals so far including one against the Eagles that time.
Newly re-instated Singapore International Indra Shahdan will also be another player to watch out for. Recalled back to the national setup by new National Team gaffer, Bernd Stange, Indra have repaid that faith with a goal against Laos.
The odds may seem to be stacked against Geylang International but under the inspirational leadership of Captain Jozef Kaplan, the Eagles have been defying the odds on a frequent basis and especially in the last two months.
It is clear that the Eagles are spreading their wings and the attacking philosophy of coach V Kanan looks to be paying off.
It may be the same team the Protectors face tonight but it will definitely be a different spirit that will do battle this time round. Many will have written us off tonight but the Eagles will face adversity in the only way Eagles know how. Undaunted.
Bring it on!
