Match Preview: Harimau Muda vs Geylang International

Kaplan scored a hat-trick against Harimau Muda at Pasir Gudang earlier this year
Tonight, the Eagles travel to Pasir Gudang Stadium for the first game of the final round where Harimau B awaits. The Malaysian side sits only one spot above Geylang International at 9th on the table with only three points separating them.
Harimau Muda B have been blowing hot and cold all season and the League Cup Plate winners are never easy a side to predict. They have only won twice in their last five matches and those two wins were against the same opponents, namely the Courts Young Lions.
After the euphoria of their League Cup Plate victory, they were immediately brought back to earth by Brunei DPMM with a with a pretty hapless display of football.
Even then, the likes of the industrious skipper, Azzizan Nordin and Maxsius Musa can still pose a threat should they find their form on the field. Ridzuan Abdunloh, the team’s top scorer with seven league goals will also want to improve on his current form.
Fortunate to play the game in the evening this time round unlike the last time when the Eagles travelled to Pasir Gudang and played under the hot late afternoon sun, the Eagles have but fond memories of the place.
That time, the Eagles were not favoured to win but brought home three points with a 4-1 win over Harimau Muda B for their first win of the season. Captain Jozef Kaplan had scored a hat trick then.
However, the Eagles have not won in their last eight matches and will hope that Pasir Gudang Stadium remains a fertile hunting ground. Nothing less than a win will suffice if the Eagles are serious about improving their standing in the league.
Veteran Noor Ali will be back from suspension and his return will surely give Geylang International the added edge in attack. On the other hand, Yasir Hanapi will be missing out due to suspension.
Talk on the ground points to both teams settling for a draw but Coach V Kanan will definitely be telling his team to gun for the win and all will be set to make tonight’s affair a tightly fought one especially with both teams eager to get out of their rut.
The Eagles have done it once before and we have no reason not to believe we can do it again at Pasir Gudang Stadium tonight.
Bring them on!
