Match Preview: Harimau Muda vs Geylang International
By Andrew Ang on 2 April 2014
Geylang International will look to continue their unbeaten run under new coach Jorg Steinebrunner as they look to claim a victory at Pasir Gudang against Harimau Muda on Thursday.
Since the appointment of a new head coach, Geylang International have put together impressive performances en route to a 1-0 victory over Courts Young Lions and a spirited 1-1 draw against title contenders Brunei DPMM. Harimau Muda on the other hand, have endured a disastrous start to the season, failing to win in any of the opening five matches. However, their last performance did make a few in the local community sit up and take notice. Harimau Muda took a two goal lead against Tampines Rovers, the defending champions. Although lapses in the defense during the last few minutes of the game led to them losing 3-2, Geylang head coach Jorg Steinebrunner felt his team cannot take anything for granted given Harimau Muda’s impressive outing last time out.
Speaking to the Geylang International media team ahead of Thursday’s match , Jorg said: “They(Harimau Muda) have no points but they showed how dangerous they can be in the last game.”
The Eagles will also be looking to name an unchanged line up but received a boost this week as midfielder Fabian Kwok returned to training after recovering from a freak injury.
Jorg continued, “The team has been progressing steadily and I think it is important to have stability.”
A win on the agenda for the new head coach and a team riding high on impressive performances head into a cauldron prepared to battle a team looking to get their first points of the season sets us up for a mouth watering encounter .
