Match Preview: Geylang International vs Woodlands Wellington
By Eagles Admin on 23 August 2013
The Eagles are ready for the match against Woodlands!
The season takes off again for Geylang International with a ‘Home’ game at Jalan Besar Stadium tonight. Coming up to contest the 3 points up for grabs will once again be the Rams from the north.
Woodlands Wellington FC may have knocked the Eagles out of the Starhub League Cup but they surely will have to note that the three times they have met the Eagles, they have not been able to win within regulation time. If anything, the Rams even had to endure a 4-1 defeat at Woodlands Stadium.
Currently sitting in sixth place, the Rams will have every reason to feel positive tonight. They have won 4 of their last 5 league games, scalping the likes of DPMM FC and Albirex Niigata (S) along the way. Coach Salim Moin injected creativity into his squad when he signed Theerawekin Seehawong who have been a definite revelation for the team.
His Korean pair of Chang Jo Yoon and Moon Soon Ho have also been in devastating form and they will look to torment the Eagles tonight.
Geylang International FC may not have won their last 5 games but have performed well in the friendly games during the break which will have done nothing but good for team morale. The likes of Captain Jozef Kaplan and Stefan Milojevic will also want to prove that the Starhub League Cup exit was nothing but a fluke.
The evergreen veteran Noor Ali have also provided Geylang International with an additional attacking option and he have been impressing since his return from retirement. The Rams will definitely have a lot on their hands tonight as the Eagles are anything but easy meat.
The injury list for the Eagles remain the same but Khayrulhayat Jumat may yet make an appearance pending his injury review.
The Eagles may currently be nesting at 9th spot in the table but we are only a mere 6 points away from the Rams and should they think that a win is a given tonight, then they definitely have got something else coming.
Bring them on!
