By Eagles Admin on 2 October 2014
The Eagles will be looking to return to winning ways when they face-off against Woodlands Wellington at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Friday.
Geylang International have gone two matches without a win, recording a defeat and a draw in their last two outings. In their last home match at the Bedok Stadium, the Eagles let slip a three goal lead to succumb to a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Albirex Niigata(S).
But the side bounced back with a credible performance against Tanjong Pagar in a match which ended 1-1, with the Eagles dominating the encounter.
Meanwhile, Woodlands Wellington suffered a heavy defeat last time out, with a 3-0 loss to Hougang United, a result which came on the back of a disappointing draw with Harimau Muda at home.
In previous encounters between both sides this season, Geylang International have remained undefeated. In the league, the Eagles played out a 1-1 draw at Bedok Stadium before emerging 2-0 winners at the Jalan Besar.
The Eagles also conquered at the Woodlands Stadium in the Singapore Cup, defeating the Rams 5-1.
Eagles head coach Jorg Steinebrunner will have a fully fit squad to choose from and it is highly expected that a couple of players from the promising Prime League squad could be fielded against the Rams.
Leonel Felice,Fabian Kwok, Hafiz Nor and captain Ridhuan Muhammad all featured in the weekend’s Sultan of Selangor match and will be looking to start the match buzzing with the knowledge and experience they gained from the cracking atmosphere.
With both sides looking to get the much coveted three points on offer, the match at Jalan Besar is a tie not to be missed this week.
