Match Preview: Geylang International vs Courts Young Lions

Geylang International vs Courts Young Lions

The Eagles will face Courts Young Lions tonight at Bedok Stadium for our last regular league fixture before competing in the new half-round format which will see the Eagles compete with clubs in the bottom half of the table to decide the final standings.

Courts Young Lions will look to fix their situation in the league where they have only managed a meagre six points and will be looking to the Eagles as their means to improvement.

Players like Afiq Yunos and Al-Qaasimy Rahman will be back from their Merdeka Cup outing and will definitely boost the side. Coach Aide Iskandar will sure ask his players to prove themselves after a weak display against Harimau Muda B over the weekend.

The Eagles will still be without players out with long term injuries and inspirational veteran Noor Ali will miss tonight’s clash due to suspension.

Coach V.Kanan will still be looking to get as many points as possible and he will surely ask his charges to go for the win against the bottom-placed team in the league.

Looking at the form of the Eagles in our last five matches may suggest that Lady Luck have been very fickle with her favours. Though the Young Lions may have notched their first league win, against the Jaguars at Queenstown Stadium for that matter, the signs all point to an Eagles victory.

An upset is still a possible outcome but the ever influential Captain Jozef Kaplan will, as always, give his all and inspire his teammates. The decidedly multilateral Wahyudi Wahid may yet be available for this game after picking up a knock in the last game against Tanjong Pagar United and his presence will surely provide a boost.

The season may have been a tumultuous one for the Eagles with injuries and hard results to swallow a normal occurrence for the Bedok Stadium faithfuls but one thing is for sure and that is the Eagles will approach tonight’s game in the manner they know best;

With no fear.

Bring them on!
