Match Preview: Geylang International vs Courts Young Lions

Tonight, Courts Young Lions come to Bedok Stadium to face high-flying Eagles fresh from a 3-0 drubbing of the Warriors. Finally ending a winless streak, tonight’s encounter with the Young Lions will be viewed as an opportunity to right some wrongs from our previous encounter.

When the Eagles last met Courts Young Lions last month, it was a 1-0 defeat to the younglings. Aide Iskandar’s charges have worked to keep things tight at the back and they have managed to get their only two wins of the season in their last 5 league games.

Courts Young Lions are rooted to the bottom of the table and will remain there regardless of how they fare in their remaining fixtures but nothing can be taken for granted. The likes of Sherif El Masri can win a game on his own if given the opportunity to.

Taufiq Ghani & Delwinder Singh

Coach V. Kanan will be able to welcome Taufiq Ghani and Delwinder Singh back from suspension. Knowing that finishing top in the Tier 2 table is still mathematically possible, he will want nothing but a win in this encounter.

A brilliant display against the Warriors in our last game will certainly have the team take to the field tonight with more conviction than they had the last time the Eagles met the Young Lions. Captain Jozef Kaplan is now joint-top scorer of the S-League with 13 goals to his name.

The Young Lions will definitely have to handle the attacking squadron of Jozef, Stefan Milojevic, veteran Noor Ali and Yasir Hanapi that tore the Warriors’ defence apart with ease.

The Eagles will be eager to embark on a winning run tonight and finish the season off in style.

Come on Eagles!
