Geylang International FC

Match Preview: Albirex Niigata (S) vs Geylang International

Tonight, the Geylang Eagles must travel west to Jurong East Stadium and face the White Swans for the third time this season.

Albirex Niigata (S) currently sit pretty in 2nd place of the table while the Eagles are in 9th spot but with a game in hand. 4 points ahead of Tanjong Pagar FC and 6 points behind Tampines Rovers FC, the White Swans will edge closer to the defending champions should they be able to master the Eagles tonight.

The lethal partnership of Kazuki Sakamoto and Bruno Castanheira will be supported by the immensely experienced Shingo Suzuki, a J-League veteran who came to the S-League this year from Tokyo Verdy. Coach Koichi Sugiyama will be looking to them to clip the wings of the Eagles.

Geylang International FC find ourselves suddenly facing an injury crisis. As it stands, Stefan Milojevic will be doubtful for tonight due to fever and Khayrulhayat Jumat will be unavailable due to NS reservist obligations. Captain Jozef Kaplan will also not be available due to suspension.

The injury list includes, Fabian Kwok, Delwinder Singh and now joined by Khairulnizam Jumahat who is set to miss the rest of the season as well.

In the face of such odds, our very own veteran and captain of the 2009 team, have stepped up like the Eagle he is and will come out of retirement to do his part for the team. That alone is a good enough reason to head on down to Jurong East Stadium tonight.

Our 38 years old assistant coach will do battle tonight and your support and encouragement will be much needed to spur the team on in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. The Eagles have not lost to Albirex Niigata in 5 meetings and tonight, let us will them on to a 6th unbeaten meeting.

Bring it on!!!
