GUFC goes to St Andrews School!

Last Saturday evening, GUFC players Ang Zhi Wei and Ishak Zainol went down to St Andrews School to conduct a school outreach programme with the St Andrews Junior School students and it was so much fun!

The St Andrews students are definitely a lively lot as they had so much energy in them. The early lightning risk alert could not dampen their enthusiasm and once it was safe to be on the pitch again, they were out and running! At the beginning of the session, Zhi Wei practiced individual ball control with the students while Ishak conducted a “monkey” passing session. Dribbling drills were conducted to help improve their touches on the ball.

They emphasized that at such a young age, it is important to get the fundamentals right as only then it will allow the player to develop progressively as he grows older.

Half an hour before the end of the session, the students were allowed to have a match-up to pit their skills against each other! It was quite a surprise to see that some of the players were really good!

GUFC wants to thank St Andrews for allowing us to be a part of their football curriculum!
