GUFC attends S.Anthonysamy’s fund-raising dinner at Amara Hotel!

On the evening on 25th September, several players, committee members and staff of Geylang United Football Club turned up at the Amara Hotel in support of the fundraising dinner for former national player S.Anthonysamy.
S.Anthonysamy, a former Woodlands Wellington player, suffered paralysis shoulders down after coming off injured in a friendly against Selangor in 1996. Since then, he has been wheelchair-bound and unable to seek employment due to his condition. He has been cared for by his devoted wife Keralin, who resigned from her job as a computer instructor soon after the incident to care for her husband.
The club is glad to announce that a total of $65,000 has been raised to help S.Anthonysamy and we wish to thank Woodlands Wellington and current LionsXII coach V.Sundramoothy for organizing this event.
Last but not least, we also wish to thank the very generous Mr Bill Ng, Chairman of Hougang United Football Club who purchased 50 pieces of the book “50 greatest moments in Singapore Football” at $50 apiece. The $2500 raised is then donated to the S.Anthonysamy fund.
This event is certainly one of the proudest moments that Singapore football has ever had.
