Geylang International’s New Year resolutions
By Eagles Admin on 31 December 2013
It’s been an up and down year, but Geylang International Head Coach, Vedhamuthu Kanan, would be pleased with how the team ended the 2013 S. League season — a memorable win against the much fancied Warriors FC in October and coming back from 2-0 to draw against Brunei DPMM in Bandar Seri Begawan in the last match of the season.
Here are three New Year’s resolutions for the Eagles for 2014:
Start the season with a win!
The last time the Eagles won on the opening day of the season was in 2009, a 3-1 home victory against Albirex Niigata (S). They lost all their opening matches in 2011 (against Etoile), 2012 (against Woodlands Wellington) and 2013 (against Tampines Rovers). A win will probably give the Eagles the confidence and motivation they need to start the new campaign with a bang.
Get everyone fit throughout the season
Geylang International’s injury crisis last season was so bad that Head Coach Kanan had to persuade former Singapore winger and Assistant Coach, Noor Ali, to come out from retirement and play for the team. An injury-free team would mean a better chance for some silverware next season!
Fill up Bedok Stadium
It’s no secret that all S. League clubs are finding it hard to attract fans to their respective stadiums. For us at Geylang International, we are working hard to ensure that all spectators will be entertained by the match day’s activities and actions on the field. We will update you via our social media channels and official website in due course!
