Fret Not, As The Eagles’ Media Team Bring You An Exclusive Post-Match Interview With Nobody But Only The Eagles’ Fans !!!

Today, we speak to a die-hard Geylang Supporter & ardent Ultra Eagle, Stanley Wong.

Question 1 : When, Why and How did you become an Eagles Fan ?

I have been supporting the Eagles from the year 2013. I used to know a few Eagles’ fans and friends during the good old days of supporting the ‘Kallang Roar’ and the National Singapore Team. They then, encouraged me to join up with ‘Ultras Eagles’, an unofficial fan club of Geylang International to support our local club in all competitions. Another reason for supporting Geylang, the ‘Pride of The East, was because I lived very near to the Stadium and I do come forward to support the club on regular basis.

Question 2 : The Eagles have recorded their first back-to-back wins of the season. Do you think Geylang can continue the momentum and extend the winning streak against defending ‘RHB Singapore Cup’ champions, Balestier Khalsa ?

According to me, the Eagles have been playing exceptionally well in the past two games. The Tigers are a very physical team with star-studded foreign players adding more lethality to the squad. Furthermore, they possess one of the most consistent goalkeeper in the league, Zaiful Nizam, whom definitely will make our strikers work hard for the goals. Honestly, Balestier are a tough team to beat, but it is possible with the Eagles.

Question 3 : How did Geylang International perform against Home United ?

Eagles defended their lines very well and  were able to soak up the pressure during the 2nd half of the game where Home United tried everything to get a equaliser. Yazid was excellent tonight keeping a clean sheet, his experience is valuable for tonight’s game. Great to see Tatsuro scoring and sharing the responsibility among the strikers. Overall we worked together and toiled hard for the 3 points tonight.

Question 4 : Who do you think deserves, the ‘Man Of The Match’ award ?

I personally feel that Yazid Yazin should deserve the ‘Man Of The Match’ award as he single-handedly kept the Eagles’ lead with numerous saves in the dying minutes. But, then again, it was a collective team effort tonight and they were rewarded well for their great teamwork.

Question 5 : The Passionate Eagles fans were constantly cheering the team on for the whole 90 minutes ? Why was that so and what do you want to say to other Eagles fans whom were not present at the Stadium today ?

Ultras Eagles will always cheer from the first to the final whistle, for Geylang International. We hope that with our 90 odd minutes’ passion, we can give the players extra motivation and boost to their performances. The ‘Ultras Eagles’ hope that more fans can come down to the various stadium and join us in cheering for our own local team to achieve greater heights for the club.

Question 6 : How do you feel when Geylang recognizes your efforts and dedicate their hard-earned victory, to all loyal supporting Eagles’ fans ?

The ‘Ultras Eagles’ really appreciate the players and the club for dedicating the victory to the fans, family, friends and supporters. It shows that the whole club is like a big family. We win as a team and we lose as a team. #GeylangBoleh

Question 7 : Despite the Eagles’ wings were clipped after three straight defeats in April, you and the other zealous fans kept on believing in the squad by displaying constant fervent support in every game. What was the driving factor behind the optimism and how did you feel after the final whistle against Home United FC ?

When the final whistle is blown, all the fans were over the moon with another victory. It was sweet victory against a very strong team and a club with lots of resources at their disposal. It seems that Jalan Besar Stadium has always been a lucky ground for Geylang International, for the past two seasons.
