In Search Of Alternative Viewpoints Of Your Eagles’ Game ?
Fret Not, As The Eagles’ Media Team Brings You An Exclusive Post-Match Interview With Nobody But Only The Eagles’ Fans !!!
Today, we speak to a bubbly, soft-spoken yet passionate Geylang Supporter & Fan, Catherine Low.
Question 1 : When did you first become an Eagles Fan, who is your favourite Geylang International player and why ?
I first became a fan of Geylang International back in 2014, when Kento Fukuda joined the Eagles from Albirex Niigata (S). In my opinion, Geylang International has always had good support and fans when they play either ‘Home’ or ‘Away’ fixtures. Kento is a great defender as he plays well and gives his best in every game. Furthermore, he is really good looking. Nevertheless, football is all about the players’ consistent performance and I always loved the way he makes last ditch tackles and towering headers to clear the back-line.
Question 2 : How do you think the game went for Geylang International, despite their resilient performance against Albirex Niigata (S) FC ?
The Eagles played very well, but they just could get the ball into the net after tireless attempts. Although, Geylang had lost, each and every Eagle gave their best till the final whistle. Nevertheless, my hero, Kento Fukuda had three chances at goal, but all chances were well saved or blocked by Albirex. I am very confident that, if Kento had scored all the three attempts, Geylang could have turn the tide and walk away 3-2 winners at the Bedok Stadium.
Question 3 : Why do you feel Geylang has the best ‘fan-club’ ?
Crowds are never an issue at Geylang as the fans and supporters come in great numbers to see their superstars in action. The Geylang fans have always been friendly and they always look after each other very well. It feels special because, whenever, I support the Eagles, I feel part of a big family. Their fans also range from kids right up to the elderly. When the fan-club travels together, the management always takes it upon them, to check that each and every fan is feeling and doing well throughout the trip. Furthermore, I believe we are the only group of supporters to cheer on our team for the full 90 minutes.
Question 4 : Apart from Kento Fukuda and the passionate fans, what makes Geylang International a special ‘stand-out’ club ?
Geylang are the true ‘dark-horse’ team, this season. Honestly, the Eagles have two great forwards spearheading the attack. They are none other than captain, Jozef Kaplan and ‘Japanese Samba Boy’, Bruno Castanheira. Furthermore, with the S.League legend and veteran, Yazid Yazin in goal making splendid saves, Geylang is indeed a force to be reckoned with. Overall, I fee the team strives and battle for each other on and off the pitch. Over the months, Geylang have improved under the guidance of Coach Jorg Steinebrunner and they are certainly a team to watch in the RHB Singapore Cup 2015. Let’s Go Eagles!!!
Question 5 : What is your fondest memory of being a Geylang fan and supporter ?
It definitely has to be the stunning equalizer by Bruno Castanheira against Balestier Khalsa FC at Jalan Besar Stadium. I honestly thought that we had lost the match as the Tigers were parking the bus in front of goal. I was super delighted as I jumped for you when Bruno curled home the equalizer to draw 2-2. That goal was really fantastic and it kept our winning streak alive. Furthermore, it goes to show that teams should not write Geylang off, as the Eagles do not give up till the very last kick of the game.
Geylang & Kento Fukuda Always Boleh !!!
