Eagles Prepared For Bottom Of Table Clash With Cheetahs

Geylang International will host Hougang United at the Jalan Besar Stadium, as both teams square off in their third and final, S.League encounter with each other on Friday evening.
This exciting fixture would see the two sides battle it out, for a better position in the league table, as they approach the last of lap of the season.
Hougang are currently placed at 9th spot with 19 points from 22 games, whilst Geylang are still rooted to the bottom with 17 points from 21 matches.
Finishing the season in the bottom three spots, is something certainly not in both teams’ agenda.
Already struggling to stay away from bottom place, a moment of lapse in concentration from either team could see them lose the match and possibly finish the season as wooden spoonists – something Geylang is not familiar with.
Despite the Eagles’ illustrious rich history and being the dark-horse for the title this season, it has certainly not been the best of seasons for Geylang, as their attempts failed miserably time and time again.
Both the Eagles and the Cheetahs would also be looking to return to winning ways in the Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League after respective defeats, in the previous match week.
Geylang crashed to a 4-1 defeat against Tampines Rovers in the ‘Eastern Derby’, whilst Hougang fell 2-1 to Brunei DPMM, three days ago.
Nothing but a win, would be the Eagles’ target as they aim to clinch their first victory over Hougang, this season and also overtake the latter, as Geylang are just two points behind the Cheetahs, with one game in hand.
The Eagles will need to be firing on all cylinders to win this match, but it remains to be seen if the top guns, Bruno Castanheira and Jozef Kaplan will put on their scoring boots to lead the attack.
Shawal Anuar and Hafiz Nor have also been truly productive and hardworking on both flanks. The Eagles’ speedy duo have the capability to torment any team’s backline with their bag of tricks and lightning quick footwork. The wingers will definitely be looking to inflict damage to Hougang, as well.
Expect the Cheetahs to be troubled by Geylang’s offense, which will be adequately supplied with the brilliant services of central-midfielders, Nor Azli and Mustaqim Manzur.
On the other hand, the Eagles’ defensive wall of Anaz Hadee, Hafiz Osman, Kento Fukuda, Syed Thaha and Yuki Ichikawa will need to be wary of Hougang’s set-pieces. Carlos Delgado is absolutely a nightmare to deal with when he steps in front of a dead ball.
The Argentinean, can either go for goal, or provide a tantalising cross which Kunihiro Yamashita, Vuk Sotirovic and Diego Gama, always look to get onto the end of, to score a goal.
Hougang might be also a rather direct side, with balls punted to either the hotshot Serbian, Sotirovic or colossal Brazilian, Gama whom can superbly hold up the fort well, to bring in other teammates such as tantalizing wingers, Fazli Jaffar and Fareez Farhan, into play.
Regardless of what Hougang tactics are, Geylang’s Head Coach, Jorg Steinebrunner is adamant and confident that his charges will play attractive football regardless of anything, while the Cheetahs are rather offensive-driven despite, being rather compact at the back.
With that said, this game should see some goals, as both sides will pry open the opponents’ back-line and score the goals required to get a favourable and positive result.
