5 Questions in 5 Minutes with Eagles’ Sturdy Utility Player Zulkifli Suzliman

Question 1 –

Your thoughts about the current Young Lions set-up under Coach Juergen Raab and are you confident of clinching a victory to edge closer to Courts Young Lions?

Ans: Young Lions are a very good side with many talented young Singaporeans. Under their new Coach, they are playing better football and are able to keep the ball well. The squad has fluid and accurate passing which lead to goals with ease. It is evident that the Coach is grooming up the future young talents in Singapore and that will possibly bring the results, if they stick to the game plan.

It’s hard to fall deep down the table, when we know that the Eagles are one of the strongest team in the S.League. According to me, soccer, depends on luck, and luck does not come to your way easily. We will continue to work hard, train hard enough, and we have an exciting showdown in store against CYL. Geylang are well prepared and we will be gunning for nothing less than a win on Sunday.

Question 2 –

What were your previous clubs and what made you join the Eagles’ family and why is Geylang very special to you?

Ans: Last season, I played for Home United Football Club and before that I used to ply my trade in the National Football Academy. However, thanks to Sevki, I am back playing in the S.League after my contract was not extended by HUFC, last year. Sevki then, persuaded me to join GIFC and Geylang was also my previous club during my two years stint in the Prime League squad.  Hence, I am honoured to be back at my old club, and I would like to thank GIFC staff and coaches, especially Coach Jorg Steinebrunner for believing in me and giving me a chance to keep playing. Currently, I have the best teammates of my football career now in GIFC and I am looking forward to improve day by day.

Question 3 –

Who is your favourite player in the World of Football and in Geylang International?

Ans: My all time favourite player would be, Michael Owen. However, he is retired now. Whenever I watch Owen on TV, I try to emulate him and always imagine myself in his shoes. He is small in size, but is very fast and has that special scoring ability. I feel that, I was like Owen in my younger days, when he was playing for Liverpool. HAHA. As for GIFC, my favourite player would be none at all, as all my teammates are my best companions, be it on or off the field.

Question 4 –

What do you do in your free time and do you have any hobbies or pastimes?

Ans: My hobbies during my free time would be definitely spending time with my family, playing sports such as bowling and soccer. Furthermore, as a close-knit family, we occasionally have family gatherings such as BBQ, fishing, picnics and many more. However, for me, the best thing to do, when you have a lot of time, is to EAT and SLEEP. Hahaha.

Question 5 –

If you were stranded on an island without any communication devices, which three teammates would you wish to be alongside your expedition/adventure and why ?

Ans: If I were to be stranded on an island, I would love to have my young and dangerous team-mates /buddies, such as Huzaifah Abdul Aziz, Hairul Syirhan and Shawal Anaur beside me. The reason is simple, it is because we are happy-go lucky yet have crazy ideas and also daring. Hence these three players would be ideal to be lost on an island as we can party, enjoy and experience a crazy bond together forever.
