5 Questions in 5 Minutes with Eagles’ Samba Boy Bruno Castanheira

Question 1 –

Geylang International have finally ended their losing streak, with a last-gasp draw with Warriors FC at Choa Chu Kang Stadium, two weeks ago. Bruno, your thoughts about the pulsating game and the crucial one point the Eagles gained ?

Ans: I just returned from injury and made the starting line-up against the Rhinos. I honestly felt, that the squad performed well and the boys were hungry for points. Indeed, it is frustrating to be on a losing streak, but I am delighted we finally put an end to it. My strike partner, Kaplo (Jozef Kaplan) scored the equalizer at the death and granted us a much needed point. We (Geylang) could have walked away with a win, but unfortunately, three of our attempts came off the post. Then again, I am happy that the team put in a lot of effort and that we are able to take one point back to Bedok, rather than none.

Question 2 –

Geylang have secured a 1-0 win and settled for a 1-1 draw against Home United FC, earlier this season. Can the Eagles soar for a win and go unbeaten, against the Protectors in the 2015 S.League season ?

Ans: I believe that Geylang are capable of creating upsets and springing surprises at any given day. We will try our very best to get the three points and get off the bottom spot. The team have been training strenuously and in the past week, we have been having both morning and afternoon sessions, so that we can work more on our finishing and defending. The sole point from Choa Chu Kang, have definitely spurred us on to do better and we will certainly give our best effort to etch an unbeaten streak, again.

Question 3 –

Bruno, you have previously played for the Bishan-based club and how does it feel to come against Home United, whom are currently have been unbeaten eight games ? Do you think Geylang International FC can slay the Protectors ?

Ans: Yes. Last season, I played for Home United, but now I am an Eagle and I want the three points badly. Despite coming back from injury, I will try to score against the Protectors, not just because Home United is my old club, but because, a striker needs to beef up his reputation by putting the ball into the net. I have only scored three goals in the S.League and would like to end the season with 10 goals. Indeed, it will be tough to score against a dominant and rampant Home United side. However, with sheer determination, I know that the attacking quartet and myself can end the Protectors’ high-flying streak.

Question 4 –

Bruno, please enlighten us on how have you been spending your time in Singapore and what has captivated you the most, in our sunny island ?

Ans: I normally hang out with my friends and chill around Orchard Road. I am a big fan of the Barclays Premier League, hence I love to watch games at around Somerset. I often patronize Cuppage Plaza to fill up my tummy. Furthermore, I usually go to Bedok Corner Food Centre, to indulge in the local delicacies, with my favourite being Chicken Rice. My favourite thing about Singapore, would be the pretty ladies. Haha. I am kidding, actually the best part of Singapore, would be its food. There are different kinds of food items at any time of day and at any place. Furthermore, the food fusion here is tasty and have endless variety. My current favourite is the ‘Nasi Merah Special Combo’. Sedaaaap !

Question 5 –

Who is you favourite striker in the world and Why?

Ans: Simple, FC Barcelona’s Neymar Jr. The sizzling and entertaining striker’s technique and skill, caught my attention. Furthermore, he is good-looking and has the Brazilian flair, just like me. He is now enjoying his football career, in a great club and is doing well for both club and country. I often visualize myself in his shoes. I am also in a great club and am surrounded by wonderful talented players in Geylang. I really enjoying playing in the green and white stripes. No offence, but Home United and Albirex Niigata (S) FC are really strong sides. However this year, I am really savouring the moment and want to score more than 15 goals in all competitions, before the season wraps up.
