GUFC participates in One Community Walk!
By Eagles Admin on 27 August 2012
While most of us were probably comfortably snoozing in bed on a Sunday morning, the whole of the GUFC community got up early to participate in the One Community Walk hosted by the People’s Association and Community Sports Club!
The One Community Walk is an unprecedented nation-wide mass walking event engaging more than 80,000 residents from all the constituencies in Singapore. This event is the largest synchronized mass walking event inSingapore to date and one of the biggest displays by the community!
The event’s guests of honour included Member of Parliament Mr Lim Swee Say and also Mr Lee Yi Shyan!
Chairman Leong Kok Fann and the boys flagged off from Kampong Chai Chee CC at 8am sharp and started on the 4km journey to make their way to ITE Simei where a carnival was held. GUFC was privileged to have a booth at the Carnival and the boys were actively giving out flyers and promoting the club’s membership and also the upcoming match against Tanjong Pagar United F.C on 30th August 2012!
Although it was a sweltering day under the hot sun, many of the GUFC players agreed it was indeed a fulfilling day for them.
S-League player Ang Zhi Wei said, “It has indeed been a fulfilling day for us players. Giving out flyers has indeed been a new and humbling experience for us!”
Coach Kanan concurred, “It’s definitely a good exposure for the players and I feel that it’s always important to give back to the community and play our part. I’m indeed very excited to be here and an event such has this as allowed the players and myself to bond outside of the field.”
Last but not least, GUFC thanks People’s Association and Community Sports Club for allowing us to be part of the event!
